Ioana Mitu - Soprano

One of the most promising sopranos of her generation, Ioana Mitu delighted many international audience receiving public acclaim for her sparkling high notes and her amazing stage presence. Due to her vocal versatility, Ms. Mitu is regularly engaged to perform as a lyrical operatic soprano, as well as a crossover artist, being considered as one of the most authentic artists of the moment.
Soprano Ioana Mitu started her opera career as a soloist of National Bucharest Opera, performing roles like Susanna (The Marriage of Figaro), Gretel (Hansel and Gretel), Adina (L’Elisir d’Amore), Musetta (La Boheme), Oskar (Un Ballo in Maschera), Clorinda (Cenerentola), Despina (Cosi fan tutte). After winning the Georg Solti Award for Young Singers, she was chosen as the official publicity image of the ICV ‘s Hertogenbosch Belcanto Masterclass (NL).
The ability to sing modern music has lead her into opera productions like Celan (P.Ruzicka), I Quattro Rusteghi (Wolf-Ferrari), Amelia al ballo (Menotti), being noticed for her authenticity in expression. Ms. Mitu was invited to sing the “Opera Europa” Gala at the European Parliament Council in Strasbourg, performing since then in many important venues all over Europe.

Out of love for music and the aim of bringing joy in people’s hearts, Ms. Mitu made her first steps into the entertainment industry, as a crossover artist. The main purpose was to deliver emotions, the pure message of opera in a more accessible way, which would have been perceived by everyone, besides the language, culture, nationality or education.The highly appreciated acting skills acquired during the years of opera performing helped shaping a smooth transition to the entertainment industry. Based on her transferrable skills, Ms. Mitu created an unique concept of shows with an intense theatrical development, based on emotions. Building musical scenarios, using props to create a visual context, including audience into the stories, transferring vibes and creating characters are just a few reasons to support her recognized contribution as a top guest performer for one of the most luxurious cruise liners.As a versatile artist she developed projects like Opera Tango, a selection of famous opera arias adapted for band and accordion. Her latest show, A joy to sing reveals an extensive range of musical styles, from Classical to Broadway and traditional famous songs, paying a tribute to great artists like Maria Callas, Edith Piaf, Julie Andrews and delighting diverse audience of various cultural backgrounds, nationalities and interests.
